Bariloche

The city of San Carlos de Bariloche, known as Bariloche, is in Río Negro, Argentina. At the foothills of the Andes, Bariloche sprawls along the southern shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi and is surrounded by national park.

Tourism developed here in the 1930s and 1940s with a rise in popularity of skiing, trekking and mountaineering in the area. Watersports are popular on the lake. Traditional alpine architecture is now fused with modern development. There are numerous restaurants, cafés and chocolate shops. Bariloche is renowned as the chocolate capital of Argentina.

Camino de los Siete Lagos

The legendary Seven Lakes Road is considered one of the most scenic cycling routes in South America. Winding through the heart of Argentine Patagonia, the route links pristine lakes, ancient forests, and remote mountain valleys between Villa La Angostura and San Martín de los Andes. Every bend in the road reveals another stunning panorama, from mirror-like lakes to snow-dusted peaks reflected in turquoise water.

Cycling this route is a true immersion into Patagonia’s wilderness. Riders travel through peaceful stretches of national parkland where forests of lenga and coihue trees line the roads and condors can often be seen soaring overhead. The quiet atmosphere, combined with the sheer scale of the scenery, creates an unforgettable sense of freedom and adventure that defines this section of the journey.

Pucon

Pucon is a popular tourist destination offering many sport and recreational pursuits from water and snow skiing to white water rafting and kayaking and horse riding. For many years it was a destination for the elite and for artist communities. Now there are many hostels in the area and it has become a popular back packer haunt also.

From Pucon you can ascend the dominant smouldering Villarica volcano which overlooks the city. Snow covered in the winter it is part of the ‘Ring of Fire’ around the Pacific Ocean. Villarica is 2840 m high and classified as an active volcano having had more than 82 eruptions since the 16th C. From the summit you can view at least seven of the surrounding lakes. Other volcanoes nearby are Mocho-Choshuenco, Quetrupillán and Lanín.

There are also volcanic caves in the area and you can walk as far as 400 m underground on a guided tour to learn about the rock formations. There are 2 beaches here, the popular Pucon beach which is often crowed and the quieter Playa Beach which is surrounded by myrtle trees and has beautiful white sands. There are hot springs and spas to enjoy in the area.

Puerto Varas & Osorno Volcano

Puerto Varas is one of the most beautiful gateways to the Chilean Lake District, set on the shores of Lake Llanquihue with the perfectly shaped Osorno Volcano rising across the water. The town has a distinctive character shaped by German settler heritage, with timber houses, lakeside gardens and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere. It makes a memorable start to the tour, combining cultural charm with the dramatic natural scenery that defines this region of southern Chile.

Conguillío National Park

Conguillío National Park is one of Chile’s most spectacular volcanic landscapes and a fitting grand finale to the tour. Dominated by the active Llaima Volcano, the park is famous for its dramatic lava fields, emerald lagoons, and ancient araucaria forests — also known as monkey puzzle trees — some of which are over a thousand years old. The unique scenery feels almost prehistoric and is unlike anywhere else in South America.

Cycling through the park offers an extraordinary combination of volcanic terrain and pristine wilderness. Riders pass black lava flows, bright green forests, and shimmering lakes beneath the imposing presence of Llaima Volcano. Optional rides to Verde Lagoon and Arco Iris Lagoon add even more opportunities to experience the park’s extraordinary natural beauty. Conguillío delivers a powerful finale to the journey, blending adventure, geology, and untouched Patagonian landscapes into one unforgettable experience.

Can I Bring My Own Bike? Expand

Recommended Bike Setup

For this Chile/Argentina tour, we recommend using a mountain bike for maximum comfort and performance:

  • Gearing: A low gear ratio is essential to handle steep climbs.
  • Front suspension helps with potholes and rough gravel roads.
  • Full-suspension is acceptable but can be tiring on paved sections.
  • Handlebars: Flat bars with bar ends are great for additional hand positions on climbs.

Touring bikes: Possible, but must have:

  • Strong wheels
  • Wide tyres (minimum 37mm)
  • Low gearing
  • Recommended wheels: 36-spoke hand-built with quality rims like Sun Rhyno, Mavic, or Rigida.

Tyres

  • The terrain includes washboard tarmac and rough gravel tracks.
  • The best tyre choice is: Schwalbe Marathon XR – Durable, with solid tread for gravel and smooth enough for tarmac.

What to Bring for Your Bike

We recommend a full pre-trip service at a professional bike shop. Check:

  • Wheel spokes
  • All bearings (greased)
  • Gear and brake cables
  • Chain condition
  • Quick-release clamps
  • Tyres and rims (not worn)
  • New inner tubes
  • Pack these essentials:
  • Multi-tool
  • Tyre levers
  • Pump
  • Spare inner tubes
  • Spare spokes
  • Disc/brake pads
  • Chain links
  • Bike-specific spares (e.g. fluid, bleed kit)

Transporting Your Bike

  • Your bike must fit within your airline luggage allowance.
  • A boxed bike usually weighs 15–20kg.
  • Excess baggage fees may apply.
  • Hard case or cardboard box: Sent directly to the tour end-point. Your guide will help arrange this.
  • Flexible bike bag: Can be stored and carried with the group throughout the tour.
Money, Currency and Tips Expand

The currency in Chile is the Chilean Peso (CLP).

The currency in Argentina is the Argentine Peso (ARS).

  • What to Bring: UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and US travellers: Bring US Dollars (USD) in clean, undamaged bills – these are widely accepted for exchange.
  • European travellers: Euros (€) are also accepted, but USD usually gets better rates.
  • Where to Exchange: Licensed exchange bureaus (“casas de cambio”) and ATMs are available in major cities like Puerto Montt, Salta and Bariloche.
  • You will need to withdraw sufficient CLP in Puerto Montt at the beginning of the tour as ATMs are less available in more rural areas.
  • Avoid exchanging at the airport or hotels, where rates are often significantly lower.
  • Bring some cash in USD in case ATMs are not functioning or have low limits.
  • Your local redspokes guide will assist you with the best money exchange options and ATM access during the tour.
  • Spending Money: The amount of spending money depends on your taste for souvenirs, drinks etc. We estimate that £450 ($600) will be more than enough to cover the 14-day tour.

Staff Tipping

  • Tipping is a common way to show appreciation for your local guides and support crew. While not mandatory, it is greatly appreciated when service exceeds expectations.
  • At redspokes, we make it clear to our teams that tips are not an obligation, but a bonus based on performance. If you feel your guide and support crew provided excellent service, a tip at the end of the tour is a meaningful gesture.
  • How to Tip
We recommend tipping as a group, with the total collected and handed to your guide, who will distribute it fairly among the team.
  • Suggested Amount
    £60–£80 per customer
    $80–$100 equivalent
  • Please note: Tips are not a substitute for wages. Our local teams are paid fairly and competitively—tips are simply a personal thank-you for exceptional service

Riding on flat, undulating, hilly, steep (up and down) dusty, rocky, tarmac and gravel roads, with a couple of restful ferry rides, we could appreciate the stunning Andes mountains, lakes, Araucaria forests and towns of Chile-Argentina Patagonia.

As expected, riding up Osorno volcano and the gravel hills was challenging but rewarding. Tolke, Laura and Yal were brilliant -so patient and supportive on the hard climbs, readily provided on-going bike maintenance, yummy morning teas, and with an unexpected border closure were able to re-arrange entire days plan on the fly.

I unfortunately fell off my bike on Day 2- our guides were quick to respond & transport my husband & I to hospital, Tolke stayed with me for 5 hours, reassured & translating doctors diagnosis & helped with our medical insurance.

Although I was unable to cycle, I was able to continue with the trip, following in support vehicle, enjoying Chile & Argentina, and feeling part of a fun filled group of 10.

I had a fabulous holiday which exceeded my expectations. This area of Chile is so beautiful and we were very lucky to have perfect weather conditions for cycling. Surprisingly (as an avid road cyclist), I really enjoyed the gravel sections.

All three guides/support team were absolutely brilliant – they couldn't have been more helpful. Well organised which made the cycling more enjoyable. The other cyclists were all friendly and good fun.

This was an incredible trip. Our guides, Yal, Diego and Matias worked so hard to make everything run smoothly. When we were faced with an unprecedented border closure they ensured we arrived in Argentina safely and it cannot have been easy for them.

Their patience and good humour made the trip for me and I would highly recommend anyone thinking of doing this and with a sense of adventure to give it a go.

Fantastic trip. Would highly recommend to friends. Was a little nervous before the trip about the level of cycling but it was fine and I completed all of it. As long as you are reasonably fit and do some regular cycling you will be fine. The bikes are perfectly geared for the terrain so the hills are quite manageable. As Jeronimo said after every up there is a fantastic down and it’s always accompanied by amazing scenery.

Lots of laughs, good company and great guides. Best description of Patagonian cycling from our guides -‘the roads are either updulating, downdulating or flatdulating!’ and they were. Loved it.

redspokes provided a trip of a lifetime. The guides were very helpful and friendly making sure we all had everything we needed, especially coffee and food at the rest stops!

The organisation was first class with clear itineraries each day. The route was beautiful. There were a few tough days but the scenery made the hard work worth it, especially staying in the refugio on Osorno volcano and the views from there. Some of the group even fitted in a few hours skiing on the volcano!

The boat rides provided chill out time and awesome scenery as did a visit to a thermal spa. The group we had was great, we were from 7 different countries but we had shared interests of adventure and fun! I highly recommend this trip!

Coming from the South Island of New Zealand, we wondered if the Andean Lakes would offer anything different, but the scenery was amazing, on a grander scale – so many volcanoes! Our guides were very well organised, and also friendly and with a great sense of humour, and everything ran smoothly due to their efforts. There was a good mix of sealed and gravel roads, although not everyone liked the gravel – road-bikers might need to practice on rough gravel before taking this trip.

Staying overnight on the slopes of Osorno Volcano, crossing the Andes through pristine forest on the Perez Rosales Path, and cycling through the old lava streams in the Conguillo National Park were particular highlights.

We also had a great group of 15 people who all added greatly to our enjoyment.

There was a nice mixture of road and off-road to the point that those nervous of off-road had overcome their fears by the end of the trip. The hotels were all consistently good with some stunning locations. Even better, the group was particularly sociable and a pleasure to be with.

Our ride with redspokes on the Chile & Argentina, Patagonia and Lake District trip was simply wonderful. We shared the trip with a great group of fellow cyclists together with our thoughtful redspokes leader and support driver Jerónimo and Gustavo. We rode mostly on quiet roads with little car traffic though beautiful landscapes – normally with one or more volcanoes on the horizon. The accommodation was always comfortable and ranged from locally flavoured homestyle inns to incredible rustic lodges perched on the side of a volcano. Everything was well organized from the booking, to the airport transfers, bike rentals, and of course the daily logistics. This is a trip I definitely recommend offering interesting cycling routes, good company, and beautiful vistas.

The redspokes Chile/Argentina tour was fantastic. Everything was well organized and several nice small touches were added in that enhanced our experience. Our two Argentinian guides were wonderful and knew the landscape and area history. Their support was consistently great throughout the two week tour. The couple of things that could have gone better were not the fault of the guides or organizers of the trip. We felt the price of the trip was very fair for all that was included. We had friends who did this tour last year and recommended it highly. We were fortunate to have the same guides they did as they were very pleased and for good reason. Since last year some changes were made to the itinerary to make this trip even better. The mark of a good organization is to try to always improve and we certainly got this impression about redspokes and this tour.

My first long awaited redspokes tour. Had a wonderful time. Our guides German, Diego and Marcello were a great team who at times looked as if they were on holiday themselves as they got on so well with everyone, and appeared to make it look so easy. A peek outside very early morning or after we'd dump our bikes at end of day and see them taking care of bikes and baggage all sorted for another day told real story. Great cycling and so many beautiful sites from incredible volcanoes and emerald green lakes, thermal springs. Cycled across lava field and ate and drunk aplenty. Best steak ever in Bariloche! It was also a great group of people, singletons and couples and several redspokes tourists; of which I hope to be one. Looking forward to planning next tour. Many thanks.

The weather was spectacular, as was the scenery. The people that we met were warm and welcoming, and the food and wine were excellent! I wholeheartedly recommend this trip; cycling is the best possible way to get to know this part of the world.

The trip to Chile-Argentina was interesting and challenging. The highlights were climbing the Andes into the snowline (which was a satisfying achievement) and crossing the border between the two countries among the stunning peaks; as well as the challenge of gale-force winds and gravel roads which tested our cycling skills. The hospitality shown to us by the family at our homestay in the Mapucho region in Chile was humbling. Lying in the hot pools after a rewarding climb and eating fresh trout from the stream were both wonderful. We experienced all four seasons of weather in two weeks as well as lakes and volcanoes and rivers of immense beauty. The tour guides Dermot, Rodrigo and Gustavo were brilliant. In total the whole tour: bueno!

redspokes you did it again! This was my second tour with you and once again, your tour organization from start to finish exceeded any expectations that I could have. I particularly appreciate having local guides on your tours. German, Diego and Marcelo were extraordinary…like family. They guided us in an environment that created a sense of family and community. Their contribution provided much laughter, joy and good fun. Their fantastic leadership was combined with ongoing scenes of snowcapped volcanoes and excellent food and wine, all while getting to ride a mountain bike that is better than mine…who could ask for more?! Thank you again for making another year one that I can reflect on with great happiness…that is due to the thoughtful planning by redspokes. Oh and loved the overnight at Dona Alicia's with her goat-like-dog protecting the front door. Thank you and see you soon, redspokes!

"What an incredible journey of spectacular scenery, warm people and delicious cuisine through the green, blue and white of the lakes district of Patagonia! The good amount of riding off road meant that we often had the roads to ourselves to soak in the beauty. Riding 3 segments and taking 3 ferries to cross the Andes from Chile to Argentina was a definite highlight!"

Tour guide Taiel was remarkable and amazing! While he wasn't one for too many words, he always made sure everyone was happy and comfortable with accommodations, cycling, food, etc. He was a great problem solver on many occasions! Very mature and professional and kind and open! We were all amazed to learn that he is only 19 years old. Definitely mature and wise beyond his years! Many thanks and bravo to Taiel! Thanks to Taiel, Gustavo, Rodrigo, and Marcelo for a wonderful journey!

This was the first organized trip that both my partner and I have made that involved biking in a part of the world we had never been to. Going into the vacation we were excited and also nervous – would we be able to keep up, were we ready, would we enjoy the group and the locations we visited? I am happy to say that we loved every moment of it. The preparation materials and the quick response to our questions and concerns ahead of the trip were tremendously helpful and reassuring. The hotel transfer was perfectly on time and again built our confidence that the trip we were about to embark upon would be well organised and it certainly was. We received able but not intrusive assistance from our 3 fine guides, German, Diego and Marcello. They were able to identify what we required and helped us with what ever our need was. Even when the support bus broke down their plan B plan was executed quickly and well. And of course the scenery and culture we experienced in Chile and Argentina was superb…

Really great trip, every single day had incredible views. Crystal clear lakes and snow capped mountains and met some great people along the way. We couldn't climb the volcano unfortunately for the weather that day (though we had great views most days of volcanoes), but white water rafting was a great alternative. The guides were good fun, and they did a great job at altering the itinerary when needed. One of the best days was having fun locally on some dirt tracks in the hills when we had to spend an extra night in one town. The food and wine, everywhere, was so good. Argentina especially. A steak will never taste the same again!

This inaugural trip provided an insight into the fantastic scenery of this magnificent area and affording us close contact with local people and their way of life. The guides and support were outstanding leading us to some remote areas and arranging an unmissable opportunity to climb the active volcano on our 'rest day' in Pucon. My wife and I had a great time on this trip. Our friends had recommended this bike tour and we were not disappointed. Neither my wife and I are strong cyclists, so we were a bit worried about the challenging bike conditions. But our concerns were misplaced, as the sag wagon was always available for my wife, who did not rent an e-bike. And with an e-bike, the riding was remarkably easy. The staff was helpful and friendly throughout the trip, and we appreciated the emphasis on safety. The accommodations were excellent, often overlooking a beautiful lake. And it was a plus that our fellow travellers were great company.

We thoroughly enjoyed this cycle tour. It is our first time with Red Spokes and feel lucky to have come across them by chance while searching for bike tours in Chile on line. We chose Red spokes after we compared itineraries with 2 other companies and you had the most cycling miles/least miles in transfers, you had fantastic reviews and you were the best value. The professionalism of the Bike Way team was outstanding. Tolke, our main leader was well organised, attentive, caring, encouraging, friendly, and good company. Yal, the same. They both could understand and join in British banter too. Mati and Santi were also helpful, kind, good fun and were happy up the front or bringing up the rear, encouraging all the way. Nestor, our driver in Argentina had obviously worked with Bike Way before and knew the ropes. We could not have asked for a better team. We loved the lunch stops at a variety of restaurants and cafes that gave us insight into local cuisine. 2 stood out , the wonderful wooden house in San Martin de los Andes on 27th and the one in Cunco – Los Laurels 30th. Also the coffee stops and snacks were well planned, we were well cared for. There were 10 of us on the tour, a mixture of couples and singles, a variety of cycling experiences and we had a great time together.

I arrived in Puerto Varas as a solo participant, but the group quickly bonded, making me feel right at home. The cycling turned out to be more challenging than I had expected, but I embraced it alongside everyone else and loved every moment, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in my life! The accommodation was fantastic, each place had its own unique charm and was well chosen. The 5-star hotel in Bariloche was an unexpected treat, especially as it coincided with our rest day. The stunning lake views made it even more special. Tolkeyen, Yal, Mateus, Sante were all so helpful and encouraging to us. They along with all the drivers and of course Karina who looked after us at Bariloche and in the background all the time. This tour was excellent. We were lucky to have great weather for the duration, the cycling was fantastic and the scenery spectacular. We were a big group (16) but we all got on really well and there was great camaraderie with a lot of laughs. What made the trip so special though was the guides Diego, Yal and Matias. Their organisational and leadership skills were faultless, they communicated clearly to us about what lay ahead at various stages during the day, the lunch stops ran very smoothly and we had the opportunity to sample a great variety of local food, often in lovely rustic settings. We were given helpful dining suggestions for the evenings when the meal was not included and the guides often joined us. They were so friendly and personable that we never had the feeling that they were just being polite and doing their job. All transfers were punctual and smooth and the whole tour run seamlessly. Diego did occasionally explain some of the logistics to us which helped us to gain insight into the incredible amount of thought and work that went into making each day such a success. We also had the chance to meet with other team members such as Karina and Marcel who undoubtedly worked hard behind the scenes to make this such an enjoyable holiday for all of us. We can highly recommend this trip to other cycling enthusiasts.

What truly set this trip apart was the exceptional support team. Not only were they efficient and professional, but they also brought a sense of fun to the journey and showed genuine care for the slower riders. Their positive attitude made overcoming the weather obstacles much more manageable. The accommodations, for the most part, were of high quality, and even those of lower standards had a unique charm due to their remote locations. The true highlights, however, were the daily lunches. This was my first ever group bike trip and it was a resounding success, not least due to the exceptional guiding team (Diego, Yall and Mateus) who were always so friendly and professional and ensured the smooth running of the tour on a day to day basis. The scenery was of course spectacular. The bikes were great for cycling on both the well-maintained tarmac roads (which had a wide hard shoulder)and gravel. In November we truly had all weathers – including snow up at the ski lodge! But we all braved it and smiled – as did the guides! I feel we saw a lot and crossing between the 2 countries was interesting. As the weather improved – so did the views. I thought the final day, riding up beyond Baita Lodge and having a dip in a cold lake was really fabulous, a great way to end the tour. We ate well and were very well looked after – and with much humour.

This was my first bike trip, and it far exceeded my expectations. It was a superbly organized tour of the spectacular Patagonia/Lake District in Chile and Argentina. The guides, Tai, Yal and Diego, were excellent. As a relative newcomer to long-distance bike rides, I appreciated the helpful advice Tai gave me on how to better negotiate some of the challenging gravel trails. The accommodations were nicer than I expected, and the lunches substantial – perhaps too substantial! The region is really fantastic, with highlights including the lakes, volcanos, interesting towns, and a Mapuche lunch with monkey puzzle tree nuts. Just an incredible variety of beautiful scenery, from the foot of the volcanic Mount Osorno to the lakeshore city of Bariloche, to the lava fields in Conguillio National Park.

This was a well organised tour by excellent guides. Tolkeyen and Gustavo deserving of special mention. Karina was also a welcome addition part way through the trip. Accommodation was generally very good and some excellent. Lunches were substantial, I don't think I have ever eaten as much! The scenery is far reaching and amazing and we were fortunate enough to have very good weather in November. There are many highlights on this trip, but I enjoyed the gravel track from Puella to Puerto Frias, stunning views, and then onto Puerto Blest. Make sure you walk around the lake , and up the steps to the mountain lake before catching the ferry from Puerto Blest to Bariloche. The last ride through the lava fields in Conguillio national park is also surreal. All in all a fantastic trip, highly recommended.

Loved it.

Our group was superbly lead by Tolkeyen and German. The Patagonian adventure is definitely a must do !

My sixth redspokes tour and among the best. The scenery was quite fantastic and it was an interesting area to visit. Other aspects excellent – good redspokes team, well planned routes, nice & interesting hotels and food. A very good group also helped.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first redspokes bike tour. I've never been on a bike tour before and was probably the least prepared (not really a cyclist), so found it very challenging. However, being able to get in the van when the mountains were too steep took away any stress and Gustavo is great company. By the end of the trip I was fitter and have become more enthusiastic about cycling and determined to do more at home in preparation for my next tour! Apart from the cycling itself, the scenery was spectacular and the two rest days gave us a chance to explore the lake District more. It's a very well planned trip. Thank you to the team for all your support. I loved it!

Our first redspokes tour was a great experience. Beautiful landscapes, varied terrain with challenge for all levels of rider, very good organisation and crew and a lovely, multinational riding group. Highly recommended.

This was my first redspokes tour. Booking was simple, organisation was efficient, the support crew were excellent and hotel/food very good. However the route, scenery, weather and group members made this Chile/Argentina adventure an outstanding and memorable trip that I think catered for the expectations of all – roll on the next one !

I thought the tour guides were excellent. They were organized, had great coffee stops, were at every intersection with a turn, kept us all where we needed to be, offered super suggestions for extra activities. They were warm and friendly – really among the best guides we have ever had.

An extraordinarily well designed trip by any measure. Our Argentinian guides were sensitive to the cycling and personal needs of a group that ranging from age 27 to 73. The Patagonian landscape went beyond my expectations and continued to awestruck me till the last day. Hats off to the entire redspokes team for their organizational team. I am so glad I took this trip.

I had high expectations for this tour but it exceeded those expectations in pretty well every way. The scenery is spectacular but what pleasantly surprised me was that every day had something a bit different, from volcanoes to lakes to lava plains to gravel roads through forests or 15 km downhill screamers on tarmac. The guides were truly amazing; they put a lot of work in every day including the morning briefing, setting-out the 'magic table' at the always-welcome break stops (chocolate, coffee, bananas, energy bars, water) and loading and unloading the bikes and gear into the support vehicles. They calmly smoothed out any language or culture hiccups. Diego and Jeronimo are also just two lovely blokes who are smart, work hard and genuinely cared about giving us clients a great experience. The trip has a fair amount of off-tarmac riding which was a big part of why I chose it but if you don't like gravel roads and just want tarmac, this trip isn't for you.

This was my first organised tour and the guides and helpers could not have been better – organised, friendly and helpful. The Patagonia Lake District route was a great mix of scenic roads and gravel trails. The variety of stunning landscape and overnight stops in both small towns and more remote locations meant I felt I experienced some of the culture as well as the breathtaking countryside. The amount and type of cycling was about right for me, and the boat trips across the lakes added variety and interest to the tour. The mix of people I met on the tour also made it a great social trip. Overall it was a fantastic and very memorable holiday.

A great trip. Well organised, fantastic guides, good accommodation. Stunning scenery, and we had the added luck of having good weather and a great group that really stuck together. What particularly struck me is how this worked well as a group trip, but that it was still possible for everyone to go at their own speed, and that all abilities were catered for. A HUUUGE thumbs up for the guides (Diego, Tolkeyen, Bosco). Great fun to be with, and they really were organising whizz-kids – predicting where there were potential difficulties and working their way around these (e.g. organising transfers if poor road conditions were expected), so that we did not even notice – everything just worked. Thank you also for the very good pre-trip communication and prompt responses whenever I got in touch. That was also very helpful. This was my first redspokes tour. It won't be my last…

The views were stunning. The biking had a variety of pavement, dirt, gravel, hills which made it very enjoyable since it was always changing. The support was amazing. I went with my husband and 17-year old son. The guides and group were incredibly accommodating of our varying levels of biking. What a fantastic way to spend a vacation!

I have been on several overseas cycling trips before and this one exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Tolke, driver Diego and mechanic Bosco were excellent. The planning of each day, attention to detail by Tolke and Diego and transfers were expertly handled with no hitches. The hotels and lodges were very well selected – a super combination of very good lodges and hostels with a little luxury occasionally (well we deserved it). And as for the route – just brilliant! Cycling in the Patagonian Lakes was a bit of a dream come true for me – lakes, volcanoes, waterfalls, forests and fields under massive blue skies with high whispy clouds. Cycling was varied too, sometimes tough, but always enjoyable on gravel, forest tracks or tarmac. Just a great trip!

Another great trip with redspokes. Stunning scenery, fun group and great crew. Some of the gravel roads were a challenge but not insurmountable – the ferry crossings provided a welcome respite & a chance to take in the majestic landscape. Special thanks to Tolkeyen & Alejandro for looking after us so well. We've already booked our next redspokes adventure!

I had never been on a group cycling holiday before so I was not sure what to expect. I am very pleased to say that this was an absolutely fantastic experience. The scenery in both Chile and Argentina was truly spectacular. Cycling beside the huge lakes with the snow topped volcanos was stunning. The two guides Jeronimo and Gustavo were so helpful and friendly. My fellow cyclists from all over the world were really great company and very supportive of each other. The accommodation and food varied from location to location but was always great. I really loved it, I'm already planning another trip.

Phenomenal trip. We both loved the cycling and the scenery. The trip was made extra special by the personalities there. The other members of the group were great and we loved the combination of the guides. Tolkeyen who was shy and more reserved but helpful, sincere and very kind and Alejandro who was fun, knowledgable and organised and who mother ducked us around the trip. I would without hesitation go on another redspokes trip and in fact went straight onto the site on returning home to check out the Albania trip for next year. Thank you for an AMAZING holiday and especially to the guides, who made everything run so smoothly.

Both my husband and myself our in our 60s and this was our second group bike tour and first one with Redspokes and wow it was fabulous. We are relatively experienced cyclists but at times I found some of the rides and terrain challenging but got a great feeling of satisfaction and the scenic rewards were jaw dropping especially in Argentina and we loved the catamaran transfers. The accommodation was very varied from a rustic ski lodge to a 5 star luxury hotel and all but one great with delicious breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. Our guide Tolke was excellent and very knowledgable in the history and geography of the area and cared about everyone along with Matti his co guide and Manu’ll kept us entertained and fed with delicious and healthy snacks and there to support you if in need. The support team was also great and very helpful. I would highly recommend this trip and thank you Redspokes.

My Chile/Argentina trip was booked in 2020 and Covid was quick to cancel it. 2025 I joined 10 others and several “RED SPOKES veterans” to make this dream come true and the trip was more than amazing. The guides were exceptional tending to our every need. So well-organized, we were handed our room keys when the day was over, our luggage was at our door, the van was ready for us at all times, included meals were wonderful and the lodging from lake-front hotels in Bariloche to eco-lodges in 4 places were unsurpassed. No wonder they keep coming back to Red Spokes for more! I’m getting ready to book their Morocco trip for 2 weeks in 2026. For a bike trip of a lifetime, click onto their site and make it happen. You will not be disappointed.
